Juiciest Turkey Burgers
Juicy Turkey Burger Recipe
Turkey burgers get a bad rap for being dry and flavorless. But I completely understand wanting to choose a leaner option than beef to satisfy a craving for a burger. By sautéing seasoned onions, peppers, and herbs beforehand, you're able to ensure a juicy burger, with an added crunch. The egg gives the lean turkey the fat it so desperately needs to not dry out. And lastly, the added breadcrumbs provide the turkey burger structure so it doesn't fall apart. This recipe is versatile. You can easily sub ground chicken for turkey, and still find great success. And, although beef is usually juicy enough on its own, I find that it's even that much more flavorful with the additional ingredients listed below.
- 1 Lb Lean Turkey (93% Lean, 7% Fat)
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 Cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 Bell Pepper (Small Dice)
- ½ Sweet Onion (Small Dice)
- 2 Garlic Cloves (Minced)
- 1 Handful of Parsley (Roughly Chopped)
- 2 TBSP Tony Chache’s Seasoning
- Optional Provolone, Swiss or Pepper Jack Cheese
- Heat a nonstick pan on medium heat. Once the pan is hot, add oil then add bell peppers and onions. Sprinkle salt over the onion bell pepper mixture – this will help draw out moisture.
- Once onion bell pepper mixture is soft but still crunchy (about 3 minutes), add the garlic and parsley and stir until garlic is fragrant and parsley is well incorporated into the mixture (about 30-45 seconds). Remove from pan into a small bowl and cool down in the refrigerator.
- Once cooled down, mix together turkey, egg, onion bell pepper mixture, and Tony Chachere’s Seasonings in a bowl, making sure not to over work the meat.
- Once it is thoroughly mixed together, form 4 5oz burgers.
- Heat pan on medium high heat. Once hot, add neutral oil. Add burgers to pan and sear (about 3-4 minutes) then flip burgers and lower heat. Let them continue to cook for about 3 minutes.
- Meanwhile, split buns and brush with mayo. Set aside.
- Remove burgers from heat and top with cheese.
- Add the buns cut side down to the same pan you cooked the burgers in; the mayo will allow them to toast up without drying out.
- Serve with whatever you’d like!
