Spooky Season Charcuterie Board

CHARCUTERIE BOARD MUST HAVES

Today was one of those days where I just gave into a craving! Everything pictured below is everything I had on hand. But, if I were to go shopping specifically for a charc board in mind, I would definitely pick up the following ingredients:

  1. 1 French Baguette – Slice it as thin as you can get it. Toast in an oven at 350 for 5-6 minutes or until crisp.
  2. Asian Pears – Unlike most apples and pears, Asian pears oxidize (brown) at a much slower rate so they are great for cheese and meat boards.
  3. Dried Fruits – In my mind they’re just adult gummies! Trader Joe’s has a great selection of dried fruits without breaking the bank.
  4. Pickles – God, I love pickles. Some of my favorite varieties include pickles like cornichons, stuffed olives, or pickled cauliflower.
  5. Jam – Fig jam. Pepper jelly. Apricot jam.
  6. Mustard - Spicy brown mustard, coarse mustard, honey pale ale mustard, etc.

WHAT TYPE OF CHEESE BOARD SHOULD I BUY?

When shopping for a cheese board, I recommend something other than marble. Although it is very trendy now, unless it is high quality polished marble, it will likely show grease stains long after you remove food. Meats like soppressata, prosciutto, and other salumi tend to leave residue.

If you ever find yourself in that predicament, simply sprinkle baking soda on the marble, then spray it with white distilled vinegar. Scrub with a soft brush until the grease comes off. Most of the time it does the trick if you treat it immediately upon noticing it.

I really like the Cheese Board options on CB2 and Sur la Table. But for a more affordable option, I always recommend Home Goods!

HALLOWEEN DECOR

I could not find a link for the tiny skeleton heads or spiders, but I got them from the dollar section of Target.

This little guy has been part of our clan for a few years now! You can still find him online or in stores, at Target.

Ugh, I love these bony little hands. A great Amazon find!

So these bats didn't make the cut for the photo. But they're all around our house, on mirrors, the fridge, lights, and so on.
